Family of Indonesia Citizen Extension

A Family KITAS is issued to foreigners who are legally married to a WNI (Indonesian citizen), or for foreign children of WNI. When it is about to expire, it can be extended easily as long as the marriage remains valid and all documents are complete.

Family KITAS extension applies to:

1. Spouse of Indonesian
✔ Foreign husband/wife married to Indonesian citizen
✔ Marriage certificate from Indonesia OR foreign marriage legalized

2. Child of Indonesian Citizen
✔ Minor children (under 18, unmarried)
✔ Parents must show family relationship documents

Requirements

Document Requirements
Document of the Foreign Spouse / Child:
1. Passport (valid minimum 12–18 months depending on extension length) 2. Current KITAS/ITAS
3. Digital passport-style photo
4. SKTT (Surat Keterangan Tempat Tinggal) & Residential address letter (domisili)

Documents of the Indonesian Sponsor:
1. KTP (Indonesian ID card)
2. KK (Family Card)
3. Marriage certificate / Marriage book
4. If married abroad → must be legalized + reported to Indonesian Catatan Sipil
5. Birth certificate (for child KITAS)
6. Indonesian spouse’s letter of responsibility / sponsorship statement (Surat Jaminan)

Important:
1. It’s strongly recommended to start the extension process at least 1 to 3 months before your KITAS expires, ideally about 4–6 weeks in advance.
2. The applicant must be physically present in Indonesia during the extension process.
