Business Registration (OSS)

OSS (Online Single Submission) is the official government website where you register your business to get a legal business identity in Indonesia.

It is similar to making your business:
✔ Officially recognized by the government
✔ Allowed to operate legally
✔ Able to apply for tax, permits, and licenses

With OSS, many previous separate permits and registrations are consolidated into simpler, streamlined processes. Specifically:

When you register through OSS, you receive a Nomor Induk Berusaha (NIB). a 13 digit Business Identification Number. That NIB replaces several older permits / registrations, including:
1. Company Registration Certificate (Tanda Daftar Perusahaan / TDP)
2. Importer Identification Number (API), for businesses that import/export
3. Customs access rights (if applicable)
4. It also serves as the business’s “digital identity.”

Depending on your business type, OSS also issues:
✔ Izin Usaha (Business License)
✔ Izin Komersial/Operasional (Operation/Commercial License)
✔ Sertifikat Standar (for medium/high-risk business)
✔ Environmental licenses (if required)

What Changes Under OSS after 2025
The required licences depend on business risk level and scale. For example:
✔ Low-risk business: a simple NIB may suffice.
✔ Higher-risk business: besides the NIB, the business must obtain additional licences (operational/commercial licence), certifications, and potentially have compliance checks (e.g. environmental, safety, sector regulations).

This helps simplify compliance for small or low-risk businesses, while still enabling proper regulation for sectors with higher social/ environmental impact.
With this Business Registration you can:
✔ Register your business officially, access various government services, and apply for other necessary permits.
✔ Legally run your business within the specified sector.
✔ Conduct specific commercial operations and activities detailed in the license

Prohibited Activities
❌ Operate specific business activities without additional required licenses.
❌ Perform operations not explicitly permitted by the license.
❌ Engage in business activities outside the scope of the granted license
