Investor KITAS – E28A

Investor KITAS E28A is a “limited stay permit / residence permit” for foreign nationals who invest in, own shares of, or manage a foreign-owned company (a PT PMA, i.e. a foreign-investment limited liability company) in Indonesia. The visa is designed for people who wish to live in Indonesia while running or overseeing their own business as a shareholder, director, commissioner, or similar.

✔ You must own shares in a PT PMA with a paid-up capital (or share investment) of at least IDR 10 billion.
✔ The company must be properly established: valid business registration (NIB / OSS license), business license/permit, official deed of establishment, and all required legal/tax documents.
✔ For PT PMA: the company must meet its reporting obligations (e.g. investment realization report if required) if mandated.

Important considerations
a. E28A is NOT a general “work permit” — it’s limited to managing/overseeing your investment-company activities. If you want to work elsewhere or take up employment outside your own company, different rules apply.
b. Maintaining compliance: the company must have all necessary legal permits, registration numbers, tax ID (NPWP), and must keep up with reporting obligations (if any).

With this KITAS you can
a. Carry out activities related to business, investment, and company establishment.
b. Bring eligible members of your family.
c. Conducting activities as a member of the board of directors or a member of the board of commissioners of the company in which you are investing.
d. Travel to and from Indonesia as long as your permit is valid.
e. Carry out activities related to tourism, and visit friends or family.
f. You can open Indonesian bank accounts, register NPWP (tax ID), apply for local permits/licenses, and otherwise run a legitimate business in Indonesia under PT PMA structure.
